Baguio Escapade

Last January, we were just planning to request for vacation leaves to be approved, way back then (beginning of January), my friend Angie was telling me things about ukay-ukay and how fond she was buying clothes from various stalls in Baguio which offers a variety of clothing line. I was ecstatic about her stories, and then told her, “Angie punta tayong Baguio sa February.” She immediately said “sige, mag-VL nalang tayo”. We went back to our station and immediately checked our calendar (plotting what day our VLs should fall, of course it has to fall to our dreaded Sunday and Monday long shift – SUPER LOL). And so, my unit manager asked for plotted dates when are we gonna take our vacation leaves, we were excited to plot ours. A lot of things happened all January, t’was like the longest month ever, we have to make up for our lost hours, my boss said, NO VLs will be approved if there’s lost hours --- I am plain DEAD! January was about to end and I have five hours to make up and so was Angie. For us, time was running too fast, February was just days ahead. By the end of January, we got the news that February’s VL report was out and YES, ours got approved (overwhelmed!). So much of our Baguio Days, we enjoyed staying in Kaka’s place (Arnel, a good friend from work). It was one fine midnight, that’s how we started, and all we can say was, “wew” we were like in our second HOME. We never slept; we just sat in the veranda and smoke ‘til its dawn. Finally fell asleep when we felt numb because of the cold air, since our room was near the main road, after 3 or 4 hours, we were awaken by the busy sound of Baguio morning (another happy moment seeing jeep and taxi passing by at the front of our place). We took a shower, and then off we go to Session Road, ukay galore! Then the whole day was a pretty big mess for the two of us, the night after, Benj and Yden joined us on our escapade (pretty pretty fun) went to 50s dinner unfortunately the place is sooooo crowded we had to transfer venue just so that we could eat dinner. Went to Good Taste Restaurant and my oh my our tummies were VERY FULL, the next day, I left them to visit my relatives from Bakakeng Rd and after that, off I went to SM Baguio to meet them, went to Session Rd for another round of ukay, passed by Oh My Gulay to eat fresh salad and sandwich (oh tummy!). All day we were like kids in a candy store, we were blown away by all the things Baguio has to offer, from strawberries to ube jams, from SM Baguio to Session Rd, WE ARE COMING BACK next JUNE!
